Srinagar, March 15 (KNO) : All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday while terming the Kashmir “dispute” as one of the oldest disputes on the agenda of UN and International Community that craves for resolution stating that people of Kashmir are not offering sacrifices for the solution of the issue in present times but the process had been started way back in 1931 and ever since the partition of India that saw the birth of Pakistan in 1947, many new nations were formed but Kashmir issue remained lingering as people continue to demand the solution of this vexed issue. According to KNO, addressing mammoth Friday gathering at the historic Jamia Masjid, after two weeks of continuous curbs, Mirwaiz said since past several decades the pulpit of the central masjid has been highlighting the peoples’ rights and aspirations and will continue to do so in future also. He said that the pulpit will continue to highlight the miseries and pain inflicted on the people of Kashmir, till the issue is resolved as per the wishes and aspirations of people. Mirwaiz said that the leadership in Kashmir wasn’t eager for the chair or any sort of power, but the seat of Mirwaiz is to highlight the truth and injustice in a broad day light without any fear. He said our politics is based on principles that highlight people’s aspirations and emotions. Mirwaiz said people of Kashmir have been offering priceless sacrifices since 1947 and at the same time Leadership too has been offering sacrifices for the great cause from time to time. Mirwaiz said that he has time and again been saying that the fight for any nations sovereignty or any religion but against the GoI’s oppressive policies and military approach being followed against the peaceful Kashmiris since 1947. He said that National Investigating Agency was launching crackdowns, making arrests, and issuing summons to suppress Kashmiris, slapping of PSA and sending prisoners to outside jails. These things are not new to us and have seen since 1931. Kashmiris voices can’t be suppressed through military power. Mirwaiz Yusuf Shah, martyr Mirwaiz Farooq, and Abdul Gani Lone and I have been fighting for rights of Kashmiris since the age of 17. Mirwaiz said that the resistance leadership has made it clear in world forums including United Nations and OIC that “Kashmir issued needs to be resolved politically but a deliberate attempt is being made and an atmosphere is being created through a vicious campaign through electronic media of India that portray Kashmir in a different way and an impression is being created that whosoever would talk about Kashmir resolution is a terrorist. Mirwaiz said that different ploys are being employed to muzzle the genuine dissent in Kashmir that include displaying military might, damaging the constitution through legal route, and imposing PSA on the resistance leadership while as massive crackdown was launched on the religious leaders and activists across Kashmir. Mirwaiz emphasized on the all segments of society to forge unity at this crucial hour and urged youth to keep a control on their emotions. Mirwaiz said the leadership was clear in stand on Kashmir and it clarifies yet again that whatever it told the Manmohan Singh, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and General Pervez Musharraf. Mirwaiz strongly condemned the terror act in New Zealand where in over 40 Muslims died and dozens got injured in a suicide attack saying that Muslims across the globe are being made targets by the fascist and anti-muslim forces.(KNO)
